The Southern African Science Service Centre for Climate Change and Adaptive Land Management (SASSCAL) is a joint initiative of Angola, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, and Germany in response to the challenges of global change.
Climate change is one of the biggest challenges of the century affecting the lives of millions of people in all parts of the world. There is an urgent need to develop practical solutions aimed at enhancing societies adaptive capacity.
In this regard, SASSCAL will host its first Blended Climate Science Exhibition on the 3rd of December 2020, under the theme “From Knowledge to Action: Advancing Sustainable Climate Change Technologies for Adaptation”.
The exhibition will be a blend of live and pre-recorded sessions. The live panel discussion with the theme “Leveraging technologies for Climate Change adaptation solutions” will bring together heads of relevant institutions and high-level representatives in the field of climate change. The virtual session will be pre-recorded practical technologies showing climate change adaptation measures. The sessions will be interactive and will allow for participation from both the audience and exhibitors followed by questions curated by the moderator or taken from the audience.
It is hoped that the Climate Science Exhibition will showcase existing climate change adaptation technologies, projects, inventions, and experiments that have been developed for the communities, while inspiring advocacy for climate change solutions regionally and globally.
