With the support of a three year capacity development grant from the German Government through the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), SASSCAL is establishing the first SASSCAL Graduate Studies Programme (SGSP) in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in Namibia. The IWRM Programme will be hosted by the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), in collaboration with the Helmholtz-Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) as the German partner and will officially commence by July 2020.

The IWRM Programme will address a need expressed by the regional water sector for highly qualified professionals in the field of IWRM in the southern African region.

Admission to the IWRM Graduate Studies Programme grants successful students the opportunity to undertake studies in a programme of excellence. In the second year of studies, the programme will also provide funds for up to three months for a scientific mobility period, in order to attend specialised courses (e.g. spatial analysis, climate modelling and economic analysis) at selected institutions in Germany.
