The KAZA Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed 10 years ago by the five partner countries of Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe, on 07 December 2006 at Victoria Falls. The KAZA TFCA (Kavango Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area) is Africa’s largest conservation landscape and the world’s largest TFCA. From 31 October to 02 November 2016, relevant delegates and conservationists converged at Victoria Falls at the State of KAZA Symposium, to reflect on the progress made since the Treaty had been signed in 2011, to identify success stories and challenges alike and to map the road for the future of KAZA. Amongst others, KAZA aims “(t)o sustainably manage the Kavango Zambezi ecosystem, its heritage and cultural resources based on best conservation and tourism models for the socio-economic wellbeing of the communities and other stakeholders in and around the eco-region through harmonization of policies, strategies and practices.”
