SASSCAL 1.0 Research Portfolio

The SASSCAL 1.0 Research Portfolio implemented a total of 88 research projects from 2012 to 2018 in southern Africa, under five thematic areas: Agriculture, Biodiversity, Climate, Forestry and Water. These research projects focused on research that is both contextually relevant and based on the most advanced science available and contribute to improving decision making in the southern African region.

SASSCAL 1.0 contextualised regional scientific integration and services that address:

• the present state and future trends of resources under global change,
• the risks and vulnerabilities of ecosystems, land use systems and social systems, and
• the potential for adaptation and improved management of natural resources and services.
